He joins Open GI effective immediately and reports to Ben Legg, Chief Product Officer.
Evans’ priorities in the newly-created role are to support and develop Open GI’s product portfolio and align it with strategy to ensure it continues to meet and exceed customer needs.
With his extensive industry knowledge, he will work directly with the product teams to help Open GI accelerate its vision as a specialist software and technology partner to the insurance industry.
Evans has spent two decades in the industry and the last 6 years with Applied Systems, specialising in insurer and broker software development. His career has focused on technical delivery, product strategy, and market expansion. Before Applied, Evans started his career at SSP, moving from a hands-on engineering role to leading teams responsible for rating services, B2C websites, APIs, and insurer integrations. At Applied, Evans built and led the European product team, supporting the UK and Irish markets.
His skillset includes product alignment, identifying new market opportunities and customer research. Key achievements include the development and implementation of a strategic third-party partnership program, evaluation of the insurtech landscape in both the UK and US, and identification of solutions which add value and enhance product propositions.
Evans is also a key member of the Insurtech UK advisory panel, where he supports companies to expand into the USA and Canadian markets.
Open GI CEO, Simon Badley, commented: “We’re very pleased to welcome Phil to Open GI. His experience and skill makes him an excellent addition to the product team and I am looking forward to seeing how he can help us move the needle further and continue delivering for our customers as a specialist technology partner.”
