Every year we pledge to support a new charitable cause. It’s a commitment that’s important to us as a business – and to each member of the Open GI team.
Our 2018 charity partner: Acorns Children’s Hospice
For 2018 our employees have voted to support Acorns Children’s Hospice, which provides care for life limited and life threatened children as well as support for their families.
The charity provides care for children from neonatal through to adulthood including ongoing medical support, end of life care and by providing hospices at home.
The charity is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary – a huge milestone – and is challenging its supporters to do at least 1 thing, or all 30, from its ’30 things to do’ list.
So far we have completed a Pyjama Day, a Day’s Holiday Raffle and 4 intrepid runners have signed up to tackle this year’s Alpha Wolf Run, starting in April. If you want to donate, you can via their JustGiving page.

Our 2017 charity partner: New Hope Worcester
This year our employees chose to support New Hope, a specialist organisation that works with families of children with disabilities and complex health care needs. The organisation runs a school holiday club and Saturday club throughout the year.
New Hope was established by the inspirational Jean Wilson in 2010 who, as a mother of a child with disabilities, was unable to find suitable respite day care. The centre helps to facilitate the development of individual children. Jean continues to work tirelessly with the organisation, providing much-needed care to families and children.
We are delighted to have raised a fantastic £25,885 for New Hope thanks to various fundraising events throughout 2017.
Our 2016 charity partner: St Richard’s Hospice
In 2016 we partnered with St Richard’s Hospice, an independant charity which provides free care for over 2,600 patients and their loved ones who are living with life-limiting illnesses.
We are incredibly proud of our staff who gave up their time volunteering and raising funds for the cause, taking part in rainbow runs, races, skydives, bake sales, raffles, dress-up days and so much more. After a year of fund-raising activities we are thrilled to have been able to present St Richard’s Hospice with a cheque for £31,580.
Take a look below at some of the activities from our year partnering with St Richard’s Hospice.
Our 2015 charity partner: Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign
In 2015 we exceeded our fundraising target, bringing our total donation to £34,200 raised for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, our corporate charity partner for the year. Our team members took part in many fun and memorable events to raise funds and awareness for the cause including: Worcester 10K, Mud-run, summer fete, Dragon boat racing, cake sales and regular dress down days.
Our 2014 charity partner: Libby Mae’s Little Angels
We do enjoy supporting local community as well as regional causes and in 2014, we exceeded our forecast target for Libby Mae’s Little Angels, a charity supporting 19 neo-natal units in the Midlands. In total, our staff raised an amazing £19,432.05 through a number of fundraising events including a summer fete, charity car wash, sporting events, cake sales and regular dress down days.
Our 2013 charity partner: Midlands Air Ambulance
In 2013, we supported the fantastic Midlands Air Ambulance Charity with a variety of activities that also saw employees taking part in the London Marathon, Tour de Midlands cycle ride and the Stratford-upon-Avon Marathon. We were extremely proud that we almost trebled the previous year’s £6k target by donating a total of £17,061.61.
