The number of Open GI brokers using Vehicle Index Look-up software to improve data accuracy and introduce time savings has increased significantly this quarter.
The software enables DVLA* data, held by Carweb, such as vehicle registration, make, model & engine capacity, to be automatically retrieved via the Open GI system or brokers’ websites.
One of the key drivers for the uptake is ensuring data is correct for the Motor Insurance Database (MID). The software reduces documentation errors and therefore certificate reprints.
Essex-based Grove & Dean, specialists in commercial vehicle, motorcycle and private car insurance, is one of the latest brokers to experience the benefits. Damian Collett, Director, Grove & Dean, said: “Vehicle Index Look-up has had a great impact on our sales team. It makes data input that much quicker. We process 70,000 policies annually for a huge range of vehicle makes and models. The software improves the quality of data at your desktop – ideal for the MID, whilst introducing significant time savings."

Vehicle Index Look-up applies to private car, motorcycle and commercial vehicle business and can be accessed via the standard Open GI quotation engines or via brokers’ websites.
