Open GI Secures First eBroker for Open Trader Contract

RG Ford is the first broker to sign up to Open GI’s new quote and buy solution for SME business in just two weeks since its launch at BIBA.

eBroker for Open Trader capitalises on growth in the SME market by enabling brokers to sell commercial business to clients via the web using the power of the Open Trader platform. Full web design, branding and online payment processing is included, allowing for instant purchase.

The solution will provide Essex-based RG Ford with a completely new trading website for lines such as Property Owners and Tradesman, along with an opportunity to win market share from the direct channel, according to Giles Ford, Managing Director. He commented: “Commercial SME will be the next battle ground for direct insurers and large national broker chains. This is my core business and I am keen to fight for my share using the power of the internet.

“With eBroker for Open Trader, clients can choose the products they wish at a time convenient to them. By saving time in the initial quote stages we will be able to concentrate on adding value to the client relationship when queries arise whereas other sources would struggle. The quicker brokers get on board with products like eBroker for Open Trader, the quicker we will be able to exert our influence on the SME market."

Simon Hughes, Sales and Marketing Director, Open GI, said: “RG Ford’s views are typical of many brokers concerned about maintaining market share in the highly competitive market that is SME. As technology provider to 40% of the UK’s brokers it’s vital we support them with products such as eBroker for Open Trader. If other markets gain control of this sector before brokers it could have a significant financial consequence. Web trading provides the ideal solution in my view.

“We designed eBroker for Open Trader to streamline the SME online market making it more accessible for clients wishing to buy commercial insurance online, whilst reducing administration costs and increasing conversion rates for the broker. We are expecting take up of the solution to be high.”
